| Career Summary:
Altemus is a graduate of Seneca Valley High School and Salem College in West Virginia. While in high school he played football, baseball and ran track. During his senior year in high school he received professional baseball tryouts with the Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Houston Astros and eventually decided to attend Salem College on a football scholarship. Upon his graduation from Salem College he returned to his alma mater, Seneca Valley and began his coaching journey. This will mark his 37th year as a coach and his 15th as head coach at Pine-Richland. He is the winningest coach in PR history with over a 100 victories, 7 section titles, 1 WPIAL title and a PIAA State Runner-Up award. Coach Altemus has been named Coach of the Year 3 times, once at Grove City HS and twice at Pine-RIchland. In 2003 he was honored by KDKA as the Triple A Coach of the Year and presented the Pittsburgh Coach's Corner Award and in 2006 was honored by the ECFOA as the "Sportsman of the Year". He has coached in the prestigious Big 33 All Star Classic ( PA vs. Ohio) and in the NAFCA All Star game. Altemus has four daughters, twins Kelly and Leslie, Shayna, Marissa, and a brand new Granddaughter Molly Grace.
