Football Mothers’ Meeting Minutes

August 1, 2011 at 6:30 p.m.

Attendance:   Mary Merhaut, Kim Steliotes, Pam DeIvernois, Beth Mahood, Lorraine Watenpool, Laurie Freshwater, Jane Gessner, Jo Szelong, Dawn Lemirande, Patty Balish, Lynne Frankowski, Janet Rader, Wende Goncz, Kim Rzotkiewicz, Margie Bamonte, Janet Briski, Kathy Fetterman, Betsy Wagner.

Treasurer’s Report: Barbara Young was not present but sent a copy of the financial report. We critically need all players’ fundraising fees to meet our budget requirements for the season. Please mail to PR Football Mothers ASAP or bring to the Kickoff Party on August 14th.

We Capture Sports – Will be doing Picture Day as well as taking pictures at all Varsity games and a few selected JV, 9th, 8th and 7th grade games. Game photos will be posted for purchase approximately 24 hours after the game at wecapturesports.com.  .  Click on Game Photos and select the game you want to view.  Click on any image to order, and they also have specialty photos/posters.  There is also a separate Pine Richland page to view only pictures from Pine Richland games.   The password to access pictures is PRRams11.

Old Business:

Erie McDowell Update – We are still working out details for Erie McDowell game.  Accommodations will be at Family First Sports Park and will include a hot and cold breakfast. We will also be providing post-game hardy snacks to all players. Football Mothers and the Touchdown Club (fathers booster group) will be splitting the cost of the trip, with supplement from players handing out fliers to Clean Town car wash.  20% of the cost of the car wash will be donated back to the PR Football program. It will cost approximately $2,000 more to take coach buses rather than school buses, which we will need to raise through profits from a car wash.  It was brought up that we could profit more from the boys doing an actual car wash, so if someone could volunteer to organize a date, location and all the details, please let one of the board members know.

Committee Sign Ups Needed – We still need someone (one mom from each team) to volunteer to setup concessions for JV, 9th, 8th and 7th grade games at the stadium. You are not required to work during your son’s game, only set up, get workers organized, and collect money at the end of the game. If we don’t have someone volunteer, we will not be able to provide a concession stand during those games and will lose needed funds.

A bus snack mom is still needed for JV/Varsity, 7th and 8th grade teams.  We also need a 7th or 8th grade parent to be team mom.  Team mom is responsible mainly for communication to your team.

JV/Varsity Banquet - Lisa Heim is planning, and is still looking for a co-chair.

Picture Day -  Marcia Shipley is still in need of volunteers to help on August 19th.  Please email her if you can help out at Marcia.Shipley@pittsburghmoves.com.

Program Book - You can purchase personal “football” ads for $15 for your child.  We are also looking for business ads, if you know someone who may be interested.

Kickoff Party - Will be August 14th from 6-9 pm.   You should have received an email this week outlining the details. We are asking families from each grade to donate items for the party: 7th grade – appetizers ( dips, cheese/crackers, mozzarella sticks, chips etc); 8th grade – Gatorade, soft drinks, juice boxes, bottled water; 9th and 10th grades – side dishes – hot and cold ( potato salad, toss, baked beans, noodle salad, ); 11th grade - fruit or individual bags of chips, pretzels, etc, granola bars, etc. ; 12th grade – Senior Cake Competition with prizes. Please RSVP to Pam DeIvernois so that we can order the appropriate amount of food.

JV/Varsity Mini Camp - August 8th thru 12th from 6-9 pm.

All physicals are due prior to August 15th.  Players cannot practice if physicals are not received.
Concussion testing is also mandatory for 7th, 9th and 11th grade.  Makeup date is Friday, August 5th, Room 409 in Pine Richland Middle School at 3 p.m.

New Business:

All team’s schedules are complete but are open for changes due to construction at high school.  The first few home games may have to be played away if construction isn’t complete.  Homecoming weekend is being changed from the original date (because of Yom Kippur), and may be rescheduled the same night at Senior Night.

Please visit the official Pine Richland Football website at   www.pinerichlandfootball.com.

JV/Varsity players brought home an envelope today to purchase tickets for the 200 Club.  Buy a $100 raffle ticket for a chance to win $5,000. The cost of the ticket also includes the 200 Club party during March Madness and includes dinner, beer, wine, mixers.  The Touchdown Club is asking each player to purchase their jersey # for the ticket.  You can also sell your number to someone.

2 a days – Will be 9 days this year.  We desperately need volunteers to help set up, serve, pick up food, make desserts.  We need about 12 volunteers per day.  The dates are August 15-19 and 22-25.  Email Jo Szelong at zelong1@zoominternet.net.

First varsity scrimmage is August 26th vs. Indiana at home.  We need a few volunteers to help with distributing bagged lunches to the Indiana players after the game.  Let Mary Merhaut know if you can help out.

If you are interested in purchasing a wooden football yard sign, with your son’s football number on it, look for flyers to come shortly.

There are approximately 30 players who have not forwarded their contact information to Pam DeIvernois. Football Mothers and Touchdown Club are putting together an updated database with all player information. This database will replace all previous years’ information and will be used for all future football program emails. If you haven’t forwarded your information to Pam, you will no longer receive any football information as of August 15, 2011. If you are receiving emails and your son no longer is playing, please also let Pam know to remove your name from the distribution list.

Next meeting is September 12th, 7:30 p.m. in the Spirit Room.

Meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,

Kim Steliotes
